Besides from having one of the best websites ever, Blake Mills has that "it" factor more than a lot of music I have heard lately. I am absolutely positive that I am a late-comer to the wonder that is Breaking Mirrors but I am ecstatic that I found it. I stumbled across him on the always amazing Daytrotter and, as always, have been stuck listening to his melodies, music, and mumbles all day.
Milks & Rectangles are one of my favourite Canadian bands and they recently released Dirty Gold, their follow-up to the amazing Troubleshooters. As you can see, both albums are available on bandcamp and well worth the listen. Dirty Gold is well on it's way to the "best of" list to come in December.
Honestly, with first listen of Gang Crimes by Calgary's Church Of The Very Bright Lights, I didn't like it at all. I just felt it was way to slow and I blindly saw myself never getting over the pulse of the album. However, a coffee, a morning commute, and a walk through the streets of Vancouver gave me a second opinion. I think it is brilliant!

Now, for some of you this might be a touch old but, for me, it was discovered yesterday. It is really bringing me back to a recent trip around Europe and my nostalgia is really consuming me today. However, I really think everyone should pick up their copy of Burgundy Grape's
Portland, Oregon's Brothers Young have this song. It's called Good Deeds and you should really go and listen to it on their myspace page. If you are a fan of those songs that throw you into a trance and make you want to know "oh so much more" about the band performing the music, I highly reccommned checking it out. It has had me staring out the window all morning in deep contemplation.
Information regarding the very interesting Cedar Senior is limited and very hard to find. From the looks of things, the band is from a tiny fishing town (Port Alberni) on Vancouver Island and they make interesting taped/looped music. This small amount of information I have was directly stolen from both Pinglewood and I Guess I am Floating.
As many of you may know, one of my absolute favourite artists to arrive on the scene in the last couple of years is, without a doubt, Timber Timbre
I have been meaning to write about Casey Shea ever since I was introduced to his music while away in Europe. He is a very friendly chap that continues to kick my ass at Words with Friends and he is also a great songwriter. He brings a flair for old-time songwriting while, seemingly, exorcising the ghost of George Harrison. I have been really enjoying his album Love is Here to Stay and it is high on my list for a recommended listen.
If you have not had the opportunity to witness the joy that is Kutapira, I highly recommend you see them. I don't know if you can find tour dates or show times (their site seems quite vague) but, I must say, I was floored by their performance on Granville Street yesterday.
